Microsoft Power Platform's Growing Impact

In today's fast-paced digital world, automation and AI are transforming business operations, and Microsoft Power Platform leads this revolution.

In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, automation and AI are revolutionizing how businesses operate, and Microsoft Power Platform is at the forefront of this transformation. This is evident in the significant growth in both the platform’s adoption and functionality. Microsoft Power Platform continuously improves to empower organizations to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and innovate faster. Here’s a look at the Power Platform’s growth by the numbers:

  • 97% of Fortune 500 companies rely on Power Platform to drive innovation and productivity.
  • 45 million active users engage with Power Platform every month, a testament to its growing relevance.
  • 46% average growth is projected in 2024 for Partner Practices related to Power Platform, a significant jump from 30% last year.

Here are the 6 key takeaways from the Power Platform Conference 2024, with a special focus on the new Plan Designer and Power Pages updates, including some exciting Copilot features.

1. Plan Designer in Power Apps

The star of the show was undoubtedly the new Plan Designer in Power Apps. This feature, currently in limited preview, allows users to generate detailed project plans directly within Power Apps. It’s a game-changer for project management, enabling seamless planning and execution. This innovation is set to streamline workflows and enhance productivity across various industries.

Plan Designer will work alongside you to map out the different screens that are required to build an app. Plan Designer will also build a data model including sample data and relationships between tables.

2. AI Recorder for Power Automate

Another standout was the AI Recorder for desktop flows in Power Automate. This tool simplifies the creation of desktop flows by reducing errors associated with recording clicks and keystrokes. Now in public preview, the AI Recorder promises to make automation more accessible to everyone, from beginners to advanced users.

3. Copilot Agents in SharePoint

Jeff Teper joined and showcased major features on how Copilot is being integrated into SharePoint. These features will allow users to build business web pages using natural language and leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) and Microsoft Graph data to craft engaging web content. It will assist in drafting, tone adjustment, expanding meeting bullets, and condensing messages, all while maintaining data security and privacy.  Similar functionality is coming to SharePoint document libraries via Copilot Agents in SharePoint.

4. Create Copilot Agents using Copilot Studio

Agents come in various forms. They assist in retrieving information from foundational data, reasoning over it to provide summaries or answers. The more advanced agents can take actions upon request, while the most sophisticated ones operate autonomously to create and execute plans, coordinate other agents, and determine when to escalate an issue to an employee for assistance.

Two new capabilities for Copilot Studio were announced as well.

  • First, Copilot agents built in Copilot Studio can now be published directly into Microsoft 365 Copilot, surfacing right in the user’s flow of work.
  • Second, we’re unveiling a new Copilot Studio experience that empowers users of any skill level to create Copilot agents from within SharePoint and Microsoft 365 Copilot Business Chat (BizChat).

5. Coauthoring in Power Apps

Coauthoring is now generally available in Power Apps, enabling multiple makers to work on different parts of a canvas app simultaneously. This feature significantly speeds up development and fosters better collaboration. It’s a major step forward in making app development more efficient and team-oriented.

6. Multiplayer Pages come to Copilot

With Pages, you can turn insightful Copilot responses into something durable with a side-by-side page that you can edit and, when ready, share with your team to collaborate. You can easily go from an initial prompt to Edit in Pages.
